Charlotte Roach 10,000 km ride escort

Mowgli's picture

Charlotte Roach is riding 10,000 kms to raise money for an air ambulance service that saved her life after a training accident in the UK. The wolf pack turned up this morning to escort Charlotte Roach from Beerwah to North Lakes. I rode up on my own (leisurely pace) and got to Beerwah just in front of the pack - after leaving around 25 minutes earlier than they did. We then escorted Charlotte to Caboolture for a coffee at Maccas before I then rode down with her to North Lakes. We had a short detour to show her our snakes and she got to hold my 2m Jungle Python.

I snapped a couple of pics while we riding (meant i had to sprint off the front to get far enough in front to get the phone camera out.)

'Timed ride' results

Summer is here! This mornings ride was hotly  contested but unfortunately I left the details at the shop. Instead of the usual disqualifications which I admit were a bit negative, we have decided to offer a very generous prize instead. When the budget allows we are going to 'GIVE AWAY'  a new Cannondale 2011 SuperSix team issue [52cm]  complete with Campagnolo Super record, plus a trip to France to watch the tour in 2014.

Time Trial 31 July 2010

Mowgli's picture

Todays time trial was a tough one for me. I intensely dislike my saddle. I also dislike head winds, and the 4 mountains we had to climb over on the "flat" course.

Here are my ride results - i stuffed up my splits on my watch so theres only one big total and i was so exhausted at the end i forgot to turn it off for about three minutes.

My time was 30:16 I think - not as good as last time.

Improvement only comes with more effort!

Last Sunday ride 25/7/2010

mick 45's picture

Well Sunday 25/7/210 wasn't the best Sunday for me..! Thinking I would do a ride due to having to work during the week & missing the Tue & Thursday ride may have been a bit off a mistake.. Woke up 5:00am & walked outside, it was wet but not raining so said to the BOSS (wife) I will go. Left the bike shop around 6:15am feeling good & we headed to Woodford, turned around at Woodford after coffee stop. Heading back was droped half way back, was almost at my front door only 200mtr on the Corner of King st & Bellmere rd (Pool) when I speeded up to get the green arrow.

Ewen Maddock Dam

Mowgli's picture

We rocked up at Geoff and Crystelle's place mid afternoon as the clouds overhead threatened to sprinkle. It was nice and cool and the dam looked amazing as ever. The track was pretty firm with only a few slightly muddy parts and some horses hooves holes in the clay areas up the top of the first hill.
The down hills were wild and free and the up hills were as hard as always.
Riding around to the dam recreation area was a blast. We passed a few other cyclists going the other way and one going both ways (not at once). Once at the dam we paused for a break, and then tried out some table top jumps on the new BMX track. Then it was a long commute back on the road (Steve Irwin way) and back in the bottom end via Landsborough to arrive back just as a downpour dumped. We stayed dry!

A visit to the local pie shop afterwards filled the spot after riding 22.56km. Map and terrain and stats from the Garmin.
